Thriving with Parkinson's - 14th January 2023
Our members attended another session of health assessment, exercises and games with three physiotherapy undergraduates from Universiti Technology Mara (UiTM, Punchak Alam) namely, Mohammad Sakhwan Abu Bakar, Kamaliah Amira Kamaludin and Sterynie Dinus at our Parkinson's Center. The theme was "Thriving with Parkinson's".
27th Annual Charity Jog/Walk/Wheel-A-Thon Event – 8th January 2023
For the past 23 years, our association has been one of the participating organisations in the above annual charity event which was organized by the Spastic Children’s Association of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor (SCASFT).
After a hiatus of two years due to the Covid- 19 pandemic, the above event which was postponed from 20th November 2022 due to the General Election on 19th Nov, was held at the Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on 8th January 2023. This annual event helps raise fund for the respective participating organisation through jogathon donation cards.
The event was flagged off by Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. Also present was Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi, OKU Sentral President. According to SCASFT, about 1,500 people including 200 people with disabilities participated in the event.
Our president, Sara Lew and committee members, Zainalabidin Yusuf and Ng Yoke Yin participated in the 2 km walk with their family members.
Completion of the UKM Speech Therapy Clinics at MPDA - 5th January 2023
The weekly Speech Therapy Clinics which started on 3rd November 2022 ended its last session on 5th January 2023.
Congratulations to our members who have completed the clinics which were conducted by Alyssa Pang and Siti Aishah, final year students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, National University of Malaysia (UKM). Thank you, Alyssa and Siti Aishah . Many thanks also go to Dr. Shobha Sharma who supervised the whole programme.
The clinics were conducted in-person and online.
First-ever World Movement Disorders Day - 29th November 2022
You are cordially invited to join the first-ever World Movement Disorders Day organized by the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
The aim of this event is to create a basic, global understanding of movement disorders and what they are. This includes conditions such as ataxia, dystonia, chorea, parkinsonism and others.
